Offering white-tailed deer hunters more hunting opportunities across Pennsylvania, state forestlands and state parks again are participating in the Pennsylvania Game Commission's Deer Management Assistance Program, or DMAP. DMAP allows landowners to apply for permits to encourage antlerless harvests on their property, enabling DCNR and private landowners to more effectively manage white-tailed deer populations and curtail damage to forests and crops.

A Luzerne County man who was caught by Rush Township police driving with 120 bags of heroin, and whose passenger had more than 50 bags of the drug, most of them in his anal cavity, will serve time in state prison. Nathan Ross, 32, of Nescopeck, was charged by Rush Township police with driving under the influence of heroin, possession with intent to deliver heroin, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as summary traffic violations on Nov. 4, 2015.

Amber Alert gets quick results across three states

Shortly after Pennsylvania State Police issued an Amber Alert on Friday for an abducted 3-year-old girl, authorities entered the fleeing car's license plate number into a database linked to toll plazas. Police were notified when the license scanned as belonging to the suspect – the girl's father – drove into New York City.
